"Quick & Dirty" Winners

by Linda Carr

The inaugural Bote-Cote “Quick and Dirty” boat build and race was a huge success over the weekend. So much fun was had that everyone was a winner – crowds lined the pontoons to get a good view of the boats rounding the buoy in the marina.  Great camaraderie was displayed by the six competing teams.

The winner of the best boat design was the women members team from the Yacht club and  first across the finish line on Sunday ( “and rightly so”  quipped the MC, Robert Ayliff) was the aptly named “Star of the Fleet” representing the Geelong Coast Guard.

The other community organisation team was from “Kids Plus” which focusses on providing specialist programs for babies, children and young people with neurodevelopmental disabilities.

The Challenge is out for other volunteer community organisations to join this great event next festival.
